OK for money spentNov 29, 2008

The Excalibur RD54 is an ok product for the money. I knew it was not going to be perfect sound and it is not real wood. The top was cracked when I got it (happened during shipping I suppose). I didn't think it was worth my time to send it back. It plays records fine and sounds like the 1960's and early 70's record players did.

I received this as a gift for Christmas. I had originally asked for a Crosley but thought this would be a great substitute. The original one I received had a warped turn table so I exchanged it for another. The second one's speakers buzz 80% of the time. I'm going to return the product and buy a Crosley instead.

I loved the old-time look to it, and the fact that one could play records on it. But I mainly needed it for the radio, for my mother, and was very disappointed to find that the reception was basically sub-standard, so I had to return it.

This item has a good, not great, sound. Look of it is very cool, I get a lot of compliments on it. However, within 6 weeks of getting it the front light stopped working and the player only works 50% of the time now. [...] Now I just have to turn it on and hope it's working. Don't waste your money, there are plenty of others just like this one that will serve you better!
