Clearvu 11 Is An Overall Good SystemAug 21, 2009
By O-man I purchased the Clearvu11 system about a month ago for use at my home. I know I should keep it short but since mine is the first review here, I thought I that I will give a little more detail than if I wasn't the first one.
Overall, I really like the system. Here are my reasons for buying it and some pros and cons:
Reasons for purchasings this system over another: 1. Email notifications when motion detected. 2. Video viewable over the internet for remote monitoring. My wife watches our kids come home from school while she is in the office. Pretty cool! 3. Video viewable over cell phones and iPhone although this turned out to be still photos. This information was not clear to me during my research.
Pros: 1. Steps to viewing the system over the internet were complete so that I did not have to fill in any gaps in the instructions. 2. Enabled to be viewed over cell phones with a connection to the internet. It is only formatted for a WAP display not the iPhone (ie, very small picture in browser). 3. Tech support is available 24-7 for system setup. The team that handles internet setup was not available outside of normal business hours though. 4. The system alerts you whenever motion is detected and sends out email alerts and audible ones from the monitor if you choose. 5. Everything is intergrated into the display. 6. Setup instructions were clear and complete although slightly complex (but I like a complex challenge).
Cons: 1. System setup interface is tolerable to use but difficult at times because a keyboard cannot be connected to it. 2. System setup was somewhat complex due to the interface. 3. Insects activate the motion detection at night and send me hundreds of emails. I can't lower the motion detection sensitivity enough to stop this problem and keep detecting people movement. Tech support couldn't resolve this problem either and said it is trial and error to resolve it. The email problem was solved by setting up a seperate email address for motion alerts and low limits for the number of emails going to my iPhone. 4. Viewing the system on my iPhone is poor. The pictures sent are too small for my iPhone and I have to enlarge it everytime in my browser. This would be okay but I can have it update the picture every few seconds and it gets downsized each time rendering this option useless on my phone. I'd love to see an App developed by SVAT to allow me to view live video over the internet instead of the poor interface they offer me now. 5. Color settings on the system do not allow me to adjust colors correctly. My trees and yard look light purple on the screen when they are actually green. I have not covered this issue with tech support yet so maybe their is a solution I am missing. 6. While it was clearly labeled in the sales literature, the IR only covers about 15 ft at night which is not a lot for covering the front and sides of a house. I would like to see SVAT offer some low cost add on IR flood lights that are well under $50/pc.
AMERICA HAS BECOME CHINA'S JUNK YARD!Apr 27, 2011
By Leslie W. Roberts I only regret that I am unable to assign a rating for this product and its "customer support" lower than 1- Star.
The advertised "24-7" customer support touting the ability to contact their support team via telephone, live e-mail chat or by e-mail submission was admittedly one of my purchasing decisions. The other was the picture of the monitor displaying crystal clear camera images with vivid color reproduction.
I will begin my review with my experiences with their "customer support team".
When I called the telephone number for support, I was placed on hold for exactly fifteen minutes at which time I received a recorded message instructing me to leave a message. I received a response three days later.
When I tried their live e-mail chat, I received a message stating the service was busy and unavailable.
When I completed their e-mail submission form, I was finally contacted twenty-four hours later.
My issue with the system's operation was the extremely poor reproduction of images. Our beautiful green grass and shrubbery was snow white with a pinkish tinge. Our concrete driveway and sidewalk was green. No amount of on screen color adjustment, hue, contrast, saturation, etc., would improve the imaging. Customer support's only suggested solution, other than re-positioning the cameras, changing angles, etc., was to spend another $200.00 or more to upgrade to a more expensive set (4) of cameras. The tech even admitted their cameras were inferior and made the following statement...
"To be honest with you sometimes these cameras do emit an odd colour that is normal, if you return the system back to use for replacement you can but if the product testers find nothing wrong with this system they will just send it back to you."
So, there we have it. Odd colors are considered normal with this product.
I have returned this inferior product for a full refund and am lamenting the fact that America has become China's junkyard.
System is great!Aug 27, 2010
By John I bought the CLEARVU11 in March and had to wait for weather and such to clear for wire installation. Installing the cameras was easy. They gave me the CCD ones as a free upgrade. The pictures are very clear and the AGC reacts to the waxing and waning of daylight extremely well. The monitor displays colors fine.
As for setup, no problems were encountered. I do recommend the use of the mouse instead of just using the remote. I used them both. Use the mouse to pick and choose what to change, as well as inputting letters or numbers.
The night vision is fine--yes, it is only 15 or so feet. However, it will pick up reflections from eyes out to 30 feet! I tested that. Also, other light sources (car lights and the like) will still be seen out to hundreds of feet.
I don't use the e-mail notification because I don't have access to e-mails during the day. Bugs do set off the alert! Winter will cure that.
I forgot to add that they have fantastic customer service! I broke a camera mount during installation--who knew, I didn't think I was that strong! I responded to the Customer Help E-mail notice and they responded quickly. The replacement part was sent within days (for free under warranty).
